Romario Faría, ex futbolista brasileño y diputado federal, considera que Brasil necesitará un milagro para organizar en 2014 el mejor Mundial de fútbol, porque ha habido atrasos en las obras, un aumento del presupuesto y la falta de liderazgo, según una entrevista publicada hoy, EFE.
“Las cosas no van a ocurrir, vamos a organizar el Mundial, pero, infelizmente, tendremos problemas y no será el mejor de todos los tiempos”, destacó el goleador y mejor jugador del Mundial de los Estados Unidos en 1994 en una entrevista con el diario Folha de Sao Paulo.
Según Romario, para que Brasil organice un buen Mundial hará falta ayuda divina, por lo que dice que “los evangélicos creen que Jesús va a regresar. Sólo él (Jesús) podrá hacer que Brasil organice el mejor Mundial. Sí él regresa en los próximos tres años, entonces será posible”, agregó el ex jugador de clubes como el Barcelona y el holandés PSV Eindhoven.
Romario dijo que festejó cuando Brasil fue elegido como sede del Mundial de 2014 y que entonces afirmó que el país no sólo tenía condiciones de organizarlo sino también de hacer que fuera el mejor de todos. “Mantengo la primera idea, pero retiro la segunda”, dice.
Romario afirmó que, como representante del estado de Río de Janeiro en la Cámara de Diputados, mantendrá su apoyo a una petición para que el presidente de la Confederación Brasileña de Fútbol (CBF), Ricardo Teixeira, comparezca al Congreso para explicar supuestas irregularidades, incluyendo algunas referentes a la organización del Mundial.
“Desde que surgió la petición de crear una comisión parlamentaria para investigar a la CBF, cada día aparecen nuevas denuncias y la cosa está quedando cada vez más extraña”, dijo, según la Folha de Sao Paulo.
El ex artillero, dijo que no se pueden negar los méritos de Teixeira como dirigente deportivo y su exitosa campaña para que Brasil pudiese ser sede del Mundial de 2014, pero alegó que existen personas más preparadas para organizar el evento.
El diputado señaló que quiere que el presidente de la CBF dé explicaciones en el Congreso, principalmente por el significativo aumento del presupuesto para el Mundial.
“De la forma como están las cosas, los estadios van a costar 15.000 millones de reales (unos 9.375 millones de dólares) y eso es un absurdo”, agregó.
